"Covey's 1st habit + mine"
let's give procrastination the pink slip
four week mini-course

Covey has written wonderfully about great and effective habits. I am sure he is changing lives everywhere, and I'm positive he can change ours too; we will use Covey's book as a spring board for practicing, every day anew, one of Covey's habits, or a habit of a participant from our class. Although we each have a dynamite repertoire of behaviors, which makes our life smoother that it would otherwise be, we often take them for granted. The difference, between Covey and us, is that we haven't written our book yet! Never fear, this is our chance.

We can choose, of course, to work on new behaviors we have wanted to add to our life for a long time, but have been crippled by procrastination. We don't just have a difficult time doing what we need to do, we even have a tough time what we want to do! Especially the latter, I am sure.

Well, you have come to the right place, and Welcome. "Abandon all procrastination, ye who enter", courtesy of Dante's inferno, simply a new version. Together we will give procrastination the pink slip. We will finally get down to business. So whip out your composition books, and get ready.

All you need to do, to add a new behavior to your life, is 21 days of practice, the scientists say. I have just become addicted to flossing! by following the scientists recipe, and now I am addicted! All I had to do was repeat flossing, faithfully everynight, for 21 days. Good news for us -- we do have 21 days plus together. I am sure that, working together in class, will make a big difference. It is very likely we will be much closer to our goal, if not at goal, by the end of our course. At the last class, we will go out to a restaurant to finally celebrate what we want to do!

Each class will follow the same format. It will be 1 and 45 minutes in length with a 10 minute break.

1. Reading from a Covey book
2. Sharing excellent habits from our own life
3. Writing down and sharing one or more habits we are interested in acquiring
4. Taking a make-shift calendar page I will make available
5. We will talk on how to use the calendar
6. Share personal choices regarding the use of the calendar
7. Setting up with a partner to check in with through email or phone during the week
9. Keeping a journal, preferably to be written as you wake up, stream of
consciousness about anything, besides thoughts on the habit you are working on
acquiring, and its progress
10. Share from your journal or memory
11. Share how the partnership is helping the process
12. Suggestions and support for other participants' goals
13. Collect our inspirational stories from our own group
14. On our last class we will go to a restaurant to celebrate what we want to do.
